Vaccinations

Cats, Dogs, Ferrets and Rabbits all benefit from the protection of Vaccination.

All our vaccinations have a high degree of safety and have undergone rigorous testing by the vaccine company.
In addition, Vaccination confers a good high level of immunity enabling your animal to fight off otherwise serious and life-threatening infection.

You are welcome to discuss Vaccination with one of our Vets, enabling you to determine when to have your pet Immunised.

Requirements vary with the species:-

• Cats

  • Core Vaccinations
    - Feline Enteritis (Panleucopaenia Virus), Feline Calici Virus, Feline Herpes Virus (Cat-Flu)
  • Other Important Vaccination
    - Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV)
  • Other
    - Chlamydophila
  • In Future
    - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)?
    - Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)?  (One currently exists in the USA, but efficacy?).

• Dogs

  • Core Vaccinations
    - Distemper, Canine Hepatitis (Canine Adenovirus), Leptospirosis, Canine Parvovirus
  • Other Important Vaccinations
    - Bordetella br and Parainfluenza Virus (Kennel Cough Vaccination)
  • In Future
    - Corona Virus?
    - Angiostrongylus?
    - Dirofilaria (Heart Worm)?

• Ferrets

  • Core Vaccinations
    - Distemper.

• Rabbits

  • Core Vaccinations
    - Myxomatosis, Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD, HVD)

Rabies

If you are taking your animal abroad then you will need to have him or her to have Rabies Vaccination. Our Vets are Local Veterinary Inspectors (LVIs) for the Ministry (DEFRA) and so can give the Rabies Vaccination. It is a requirement that your pet will need a Microchip prior to having the Vaccination. We also recommend that you have a blood test to prove that the Vaccination has induced good Immunity.

N.B. Be aware that Rabies is not the only contagious disease to be aware of when taking your pet to the continent. There are several dangerous diseases spread by Ticks and Sandflies.
